Hands down, our favorite hours in Halifax were spent on the water, sailing with David and Derek. They are very skilled sailors, able to find the wind even on light days. This was an unforgettable experience and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We booked a sail with Sail Halifax on a whim for our trip and it turned out to be the best thing we did all week. David and Derrick took us out along the Northwest Arm past the beautiful waterfront homes, shared the history of the harbour as we went, and happily answered everything we threw at them. They told us about the island, how the boat actually works, and even let us take a turn at the helm when we weren't relaxing at the bow. The whole family loved it, and it's a lovely way to see the coastline. If you're visiting Halifax and trying to decide how to spend a morning or afternoon, this is it. We charted this sailboat boat for a private memorial, for my aunt to be set free at sea, as that was her last wish. Derick and David were amazing. They made our bittersweet experience an amazing celebration of life. I cannot express how great of a time we had. I will be booking in advance for next year. That's how great this experience was!
